The Zamfara State Election Petition Tribunal says Dauda Lawal duly won the state’s gubernatorial election.
The tribunal sitting in Sokoto upheld the election of Lawal as the governor of the North West state.
The ruling was delivered on Monday. Lawal had won the March 18 governorship election in the state.
Lawal, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, defeated the incumbent at the time, Matawalle, according to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Dissatisfied with the outcome of the poll, Matawalle,the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), approached the court to challenge Lawal’s victory.
The returning officer for the election, Professor Kasimu Shehu, had said Dare scored 377,726 votes to defeat Matawalle who polled 311,976 votes.
