President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that the African Union (AU) is strategically positioned to secure consensus positions for the continent on economic and socio-political relations with the rest of the world, especially with Nigeria’s steadfast support.

He stated this on Monday in New York during a bilateral meeting with President Azali Assoumani of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the African Union (AU).

“Nothing can bring development and prosperity without embracing freedom and constitutional order.” It is a critical component of long-term development. We appreciate that the African Union is working hard to bring peace to the Sahel and is actively negotiating between Sudan’s warring factions. Peace in Sudan will be a significant accomplishment. I appreciate your efforts in Burkina Faso and our productive collaboration in Niger.

“You are welcome to contact me at any time to discuss the peace and stability of AU member states.” The black race requires stability and prosperity. This is our time. We must maintain peace to take full advantage of the developmental opportunities presented to Africa in this era. We must create a sustainable development model. Nigeria will join forces with you. However, we must move beyond those whose view of Africa is limited and evil. “We are not afraid of confrontation, but we prefer to be restrained for the time being,” the president said in a statement issued by his spokeswoman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, on Tuesday.

President Azali Assoumani, Chairperson of the African Union, stated that the African Union sought to complement, rather than compete with, Nigeria’s efforts to secure peace and prosperity in Africa.

“Our responsibility is to confront the continent’s extra-constitutional struggle for power.” We have told China and Russia that it is their responsibility to ensure stability in these countries, as there will be no development partnership if there is instability in countries impacted by coups. “We appreciate your stance on these issues,” said the AU Chairperson.

“As President of the Union of Comoros, the AU Chairperson stated that Comoros wished to learn from Nigeria’s experience in diversity management, electoral administration, and economic growth over many years.”

“We want to turn our country into an emerging economy, and we need Nigeria’s experience as we seek your cooperation to conduct an election that will win us the respect of the international community and allow us to develop at the right speed and quality,” the Comoros President stated.

President Tinubu also welcomed Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and reiterated that the Islamic world has a strategic role in maintaining peace and development in Africa and worldwide.

“The work we are doing in the Sahel is critical. We understand that we must increase our efforts. We must inform our Muslim brothers attempting to seize power that only Allah can choose leaders. We must respect Allah’s will. I am prepared to work with you. Your efforts to support agricultural growth and food security through the provision of resources from Islamic banks have been greatly appreciated by our region. “I am determined to work with you to improve the lives of Nigerians and Africans,” the President stated.

President Tinubu was praised by the leader of the 57-nation body of cooperation for his active efforts in bringing African states to a common understanding.

“We must achieve consensus on the importance of peace, particularly among our member states.” When you were elected Chairman of ECOWAS, it gave us hope that the Sahel region would improve because you are bringing people together. We were also pleased with your election as President of Nigeria, and we see improvements,” the OIC leader said.

The OIC Secretary-General invited President Tinubu to attend the OIC Heads of State Summit, which is set to take place in a few months.
