Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro reckoned Victor Osimhen took a good decision by opting not to leave Serie A champions Napoli this summer.
Osimhen played a key role in Napoli’s Scudetto success last season.
The 24-year-old contributed 26 goals in 32 league appearances.
Saudi club Al Hilal made two tempting offers to sign the striker , but he instead turned down their overtures.
Peseiro was delighted Osimhen opted to remain at Napoli.
“At first he thought about leaving, but then he decided to stay and do his best in Napoli. And I’m happy to see him still competing for big goals in Europe”,
Peseiro further said: But Victor is very happy in Napoli. For his growth path, staying in Europe and showing off in the Champions League remains the best way. He is young and has time to prove his talent,”he told Italian news outlet, Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Then I understand that in the face of certain offers one can waver: two seasons in Arabia are worth more than ten in Europe, but money is not everything. Victor has improved a lot in Italy.”
Osimhen has been nominated for the 2023 Men’s Ballon d’Or and the FIFA Best Men’s award.
He is also the favourite to win the 2023 African Footballer of the Year prize.
