- Paul Ibe, media adviser to Atiku Abubakar, suggests that President Bola Tinubu may be hiding something in his academic records
- Atiku had filed a petition to obtain more information about Tinubu’s academic records at Chicago State University
President Bola Tinubu is withholding some information about his academic records, according to Paul Ibe, media adviser to Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general election.
He was responding to President Tinubu’s motion to vacate the Northern District of Illinois order directing Chicago State University to release his academic records within two days.
The court’s decision came in response to a case brought by Atiku, who is contesting Tinubu’s victory.
However, in a motion filed by his lawyers, the President argued that a magistrate should only report and recommend to the district judge in such cases rather than making a final order requiring immediate compliance.
In a statement on Friday, Ibe said:
It should be now obvious even to the blind that Tinubu is hiding something in his records at the Chicago State University, and even elsewhere.
I do hope whatever it may be, it will not be of a scope that will give Nigerians a heart attack. Nigerians will soon see the true position of Atiku on the records of Tinubu at CSU. It is just a matter of time.
On July 11, Atiku filed a petition seeking more information about Tinubu’s academic records at Chicago State University.
Documents sought by former Vice President Tinubu through his counsel, Angela M. Liu, include a record of his admission and acceptance at the university, dates of attendance, degrees, awards, and honours attained by Tinubu at the university, and others.
Tinubu and the CSU had both filed legal objections to the requests being granted under privacy rules.
