Secondary school student commit suicide in Benue

One Terhemba Tyochivir has killed himself in Benue, the police in the middle-belt state have disclosed.

The incident happened in Makurdi, the state capital, on Thursday.

The state police public relations officer, SP Sewuese Anene, made the disclosure in statement.

She said before his death, he was a student at Government Secondary School, Gboko.

Anene said the details of the incident remained hazy even though it was reported at the E Division Police Station, Makurdi.

She said the deceased was rushed to Bishop Murray Hospital Makurdi, where doctors confirmed him dead.

The deceased’s father, Kula Tyochivir, turned down requests from journalist to speak with him.

In a related development, last week, a 17-year-old boy, Betwom Bitrus, reportedly committed suicide in Bauchi state.

The incident happened at Bombar in Bogoro Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday.

According to Wakil, the deceased was said to have left home to go to a stream in the area to take his bath but did not return home.
