In honour of the Eil-ul- Maulid celebration, which honours the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), the Federal Government has proclaimed Wednesday, September 27, a public holiday.
On Monday evening in Abuja, the government’s proclamation was delivered by Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The Minister thanked Muslims at home and abroad for attending this year’s event in a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade.
He admonished Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him ) exemplified.
The Minister urged youths to embrace hard work and peaceful dispositions to fellow citizens irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity.
He called on them to join hands with President Bola Tinubu to build a progressive country.
