Ekiti doctor beats wife to pulp over refusal to take care of pregnant mistress

According to reports, the trouble began when the wife refused to take care of Dr. Abidemi's pregnant mistress, which angered the Consultant Family Physician

Dr. Olubiyi Olaolu Abidemi, the Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State Specialist Hospital, Ikere-Ekiti, allegedly physically assaulted his wife during an argument at their home on St. David Hospital Compound Ifaki-Ekiti on September 14, 2023.

According to reports, the trouble began when the wife refused to take care of Dr. Abidemi’s pregnant mistress, which angered the Consultant Family Physician.

According to Vanguard, a relative of the wife disclosed that the CMD had instructed his wife to care for one of his staff members that he had impregnated.

However, things escalated when the wife refused to comply with the request.

It is also reported that he threatened to harm her and allegedly grabbed her neck, attempting to strangle her at their residence.

Dr. (Mrs) Olubiyi Adenike, a lecturer at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, suffered severe injuries to her neck and was admitted to the accident and emergency unit of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti for treatment.

The family of the victim is now seeking help from the relevant authorities to ensure justice and protection for their daughter.

When approached by the press, Dr. Abidemi refused to comment on the incident. However, he reportedly claimed that his wife was exaggerating her injuries, despite receiving medical attention at the hospital.
