During a meeting with contractors in Abuja, Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, stated that only President Bola Tinubu and God have the authority to cancel his instructions.

He also dismissed rumors that the price of cement would increase to N9,000 if the government starts building concrete roads, attributing these claims to a larger campaign against him by influential figures in the construction industry.

“This is my line of instructions and I will do whatever the president instructs me to do. He is the only one and God that can cancel my instructions; so don’t waste your time reporting me to anyone apart from these two.

“No matter the amount of blackmail and lies, it will not prevail,” the minister reassured.

In another news, the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul-Samad Rabiu, says the high prices of cement will soon become a thing of the past.

He said the company is working towards the reduction of the price of cement in Nigeria, noting the move was geared towards supporting the efforts of the government to crash the price of the product.
He made this known on Friday while speaking with newsmen after meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

To actualise its goal, the company said it would add two new plants at the end of the year or early next year.

According to him, the plants to be commissioned by Tinubu, would bring BUA Cement’s total capacity to 17 million metric tons.

This, he said will enable the company to reduce the price of cement to about 3500 naira per bag.
