On Friday, September 29, the Delta Election appeal Tribunal denied the appeal filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor Ovie Omo-Agege to overturn Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s election victory on March 18.
In a four-hour ruling, Justice C.H. Ahuchaogu determined that the petitioner had failed to establish that Governor Oborevwori (the second respondent) had violated the Electoral Act in a material way.
Additionally, Ahuchaogu concluded that the petitioner had not shown that Governor Oborevwori had not been legitimately elected by a majority of the valid votes cast.
The Tribunal might also give its final judgement in the case between the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Kenneth Gbagi, against the PDP candidate, Oborevwori.
The chairman of the Tribunal, Justice C. H. Ahuchaogu, led other two members of the panel, Justice E. Enenche and Justice Hadiza L. Musa, into the courtroom some hours ago before commencement of the final sitting of the court.
