  • Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, MD of NDDC, advised newly promoted directors to avoid involvement in politics and focus on their roles as civil servants
  • He emphasized the importance of understanding their boundaries and responsibilities as public servants to prevent destabilization of the commission

Dr Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has urged newly promoted commission directors to avoid politics.

Ogbuku called during the closing session of a two-week capacity-building workshop for NDDC directors in Abuja, saying civil servants must understand they are not politicians and should not get involved in political matters or consider destabilizing the commission.

Over the years, we have witnessed a situation in which NCDC staff are more politicians than civil servants.” We are all in agreement that the NDDC will make a difference, which is why we are training the new directors. “The new directors must understand their role, their boundaries, their strength, when to use them and when not to use them, and they must understand that they are both public servants and civil servants, he said.
