The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, encouraged Nigerians to remain resilient and hopeful, assuring them that despite the numerous challenges, Nigeria will regain its greatness.
In a congratulatory message on Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary, conveyed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krish, Abbas emphasized the need for unity and optimism. He firmly stated that naysayers and pessimists would soon be proven wrong.
Acknowledging the existing challenges, Speaker Abbas emphasized that Nigeria possesses the potential to reclaim its leading position globally, given its abundant human and natural resources.
He appealed to the organized labor, represented by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), to reconsider their plans for an indefinite nationwide strike, highlighting that such an action would further strain the current situation. Instead, he urged them to collaborate with the Federal Government to find amicable resolutions to the issues affecting welfare.
Earlier in the week, Speaker Abbas had cautioned against the strike, recognizing its potential adverse effects on the already fragile economy.
