A family of four has been electrocuted in Jalingo, Taraba State capital.
On Monday, the Taraba State Police Command officially acknowledged this occurrence through a press release.
The tragic event unfolded around 11:00 AM on Monday in the Di-nyavoh district of Jalingo, resulting in the unfortunate loss of a husband, wife, and their two children.
Police representative Abdullahi Usman shared that credible sources informed them of a house ablaze in the Di-nyatoh locality of Jalingo at approximately 11:00 AM.
He added that “detectives from the GRA Division Taraba Command were deployed to the scene, but on arrival, a family of four was found lying on the floor with burns all over their bodies”.
The Command, which suggested that the victims were electrocuted, gave the victims names as Raymond Ofonbuk , Mrs. Mfonobong Raymond, Heaven Raymond and First Raymond.
According to the Police, “Information has it that when power was restored, the transformer of the area blew and many houses within the neighborhood experienced high voltage”, which, according to him, “led to fire outbreak, inflicting burns on the victims”.
The Police have evacuated the corpses to the Federal Medical Centre Mortuary for autopsy.
The police spokesperson added that investigation has commenced to ascertain the real cause of the incident.
