The Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Board has advised prospective pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj to be prepared to pay a N2m deposit.

The board also stated that the state has been allocated 1,345 Hajj seats by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Hajiya Aishatu Ibrahim Saleh, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Board, made the announcement in a statement signed by the board’s information officer, Alhaji Sanusi Namu.

The statement noted;

NAHCON has recently allocated 1,345 hajj slots to Plateau State and priority will be given to those who could not perform last 2023 hajj due to limited slot by NAHCON.

All intending pilgrims are therefore encouraged to book for their slot on time as all pilgrims will be treated on a first come first serve basis.

The statement further advised those who have their deposit with the board and did not perform the 2023 year hajj will come to the board to get a bank teller for topping up their deposits”

Acting Executive Secretary used this forum to appreciate Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his support to the board, hinted that this administration is committed to leaving no stone unturned towards achieving a better 2024 hajj exercise.

Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Neutralise Bandit

In Yankara village, Faskari LGA, Katsina, the Katsina State Police Command successfully stopped an attempt by armed bandits to kidnap a child, killing one of the criminals and recovering one AK47 gun.

The deadly AK-47 rifle-wielding criminals attacked the neighbourhood on Monday at around 4:00 a.m.

ASP Sadiq Abubakar, the Command’s PPRO, made this information public in a statement. He claims that as soon as the Faskari police division heard the distress call, its agents quickly dispatched officers to the area and engaged the criminals in a ferocious gunfight, forcing them to leave their evil schemes and run into the surrounding bushes.

ASP Sadiq also noted that the lifeless body of one of the criminals and the recovered AK-47 rifle were discovered while combing the attack scene. He gave the identity of the deceased suspect as Bada Yaji, 25, a resident of Dajin Dungu, Yartuwaru in Faskari LGA.
