The police in Delta State say three teenagers have arrested for suspected robbery

They were apprehended following the raid of their ‘Shawarma’ joint base at the popular Enerhen Junction in Warri.

Two male gang members, Idigbe Osreis (19) and Idigbe Perfect (16) were reportedly rounded up at their hideouts, according to the PUNCH.

It is gathered that one police undercover operative who was in the locality saw one of the suspects named Gift Peace, and later trailed him to the spot from where he was nabbed.

It was learnt that on September 29, 2023, the Divisional Police Officer ‘B’ Division, Warri, SP Bolarinwa Alabi, received a distress call about an armed robbery operation at Giwamu Junction in Warri, and led his men to the area where the 14-year-old suspect was arrested at the Suya spot.

During interrogation, the teenager reportedly confessed to being a member of an armed robbery gang that terrorises Warri and its environs and that he has been robbing since he was seven years old.

He mentioned other members and took the detectives to their hideouts.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement, said the gang members, upon sighting the operatives, opened fire from their unregistered tricycle.

The police spokesman said the operatives gave “due response” to the hostility of the gangsters.

In the process, he said one of the suspects who was later identified as the leader of the gang sustained gunshot injuries and was taken to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects, according to the police spokesman, include the operational tricycle of the gang, one locally made cut-to-size single barrel gun with stocked expended cartridges, and three live cartridges.

The PPRO stated that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing gang members and to recover more of their operation arms
