The Rapid Response Squad personnel apprehended Abdul-Lateef Mutiu, a 20-year-old ex-convict, for forcibly taking an Infinix Hot 30 Play smartphone worth N93,000 from an Uber driver in Ketu, Lagos.
The Squad disclosed this information through an official Facebook post on Thursday.
According to RRS, “The suspect had, after snatching the phone from the driver, attempted to escape when the officers arrested him.”
“The suspect confessed that he has been operating in the area since 2018 and has been arrested two times.”
The RRS Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi has directed that the phone be handed over to its owner while the suspect be charged to court immediately.
In another news WithinNigeria reported that three persons have lost their lives in a fatal accident in the Alakija area of Lagos.
The victims, who were riding on two commercial motorcycles, were returning from a football match at Navy Town in Ojo area of the state, when they rammed into a bus.
They allegedly had a head-on collision with a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle heading to Okomaiko from Mile 2.
Exasperated rampaging youths would have razed the bus but for the timely arrival of policemen from FESTAC Police Station, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Balogun Gboyega.
The body of one of the motorcyclists was taken away by his people, while the three others were taken to FESTAC Police Station. It was also learnt that the BRT driver was rescued by the police from the angry mob who almost lynched him.
