Father of five, Adamawa prince arrested for raping minors


The police in Nigeria’s north east State of Adamawa have arrest two persons for allegedly raping two minors.

The police gave the name of the suspects as Peter Joseph, a vigilante, and Yakubu Ahmadu, a prince, adding that they both confessed to the crime.

The command disclosed that Peter, 35, is a resident of Sangere Futy in Girei Local Government Area, and 25-year-old Yakubu Ahmadu lives in Koleni in Mayo Belwa LGA.

The vigilante, a father of five children who hails from Wula in Madagali LGA, confessed that he twice raped a little girl who hawks maize.

On his part, Ahmadu, the son of a ward head who was arrested on October 2, 2023, voluntarily confessed to raping a 13-year-old girl in the community.

Spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, explained that the two were arrested by operatives implementing a strategy to curtail crime.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, had ordered the prosecution of the suspects upon completion of the investigation.
