The Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Alhaja Riskat Abdulahi, has tendered her resignation from her position.
In a confirmation to Daily Trust, Alhaja Riskat cited “personal reasons” as the basis for her decision but emphasized that she remains a member of the opposition PDP within the state.
She stated, “My resignation is personal; I want to focus on my business, but I am still a member of the PDP.”
Alhaja Riskat Abdulahi expressed her gratitude to the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and the State Executive Committee (SEC) members for their cooperation and support throughout her tenure.
This follows the earlier resignations of the party’s secretary and spokesman, Abdulrazaq Lawal and Prince Tunji Moronfoye, in recent months.
Why I joined Labour Party — Olumide Akpata
The former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Olumide Akpata, on Sunday, said that he joined the Labour Party to win the governorship ticket as well as win the forthcoming 2024 governorship election in Edo State.
Akpata, who made this known in Benin during his 51st birthday celebration, also shocked his well-wishers, party faithful and supporters when he disclosed that he was a cancer survivor.
He noted that he was diagnosed with stage three cancer over 10 years ago and had multiple surgeries, adding that he was declared cancer-free in the past five years.
He stated that the celebration was to mark his birthday and thank God for his life over the years.
He said, “You may have noticed me dancing around the hall. I am dancing with thanksgiving because I turned 51 years old today. It is a miracle that I am still standing,” he said.
Akpata, who delved into his early life, noted that he lost his mother at 19 when he was writing his final examinations as a law student at the University of Benin.
