On Monday, a petroleum tanker explosion at Sandaji Filling Station in Lafia, Nasarawa State, resulted in injuries to at least six individuals.
The incident occurred around 12 pm as the tanker was offloading its petroleum product at the filling station situated on Jos Road, Lafia.
Comfort Igwe, a pump attendant at the station, detailed that the explosion happened during the product discharge.
Prompt response from the fire service, in coordination with the Red Cross Society, police, and other security agencies, helped extinguish the fire and restore order to the area.
The blast also caused significant damage to property worth millions of naira at the filling station, as reported by an eyewitness.
Some staff members of the filling station and Nasarawa State Fire Service officials sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia.
Mr. Ombugu Joshua, Acting Director of Nasarawa State Fire Service, mentioned that the cause of the outbreak is yet to be determined.
