The Lagos State Government has sealed churches, bars, night clubs, event centres and other establishments over noise pollution.
The affected establishments are located in Lagos Island, Ojudu, Ogba, Magodo, and Ikosi areas of the state.
Photographs posted on X by the office of the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab showed that some of the affected establishments included New Jerusalem Ark of God International Church and Yplus Event Centre.
The sealing of the establishments was carried out by the officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA.
The post reads: “The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) officials conducted an enforcement operation, which resulted in the closure and sealing off of specific establishments in areas including Lagos Island, Ojudu, Ogba, Magodo, and Ikosi, all due to concerns regarding noise pollution.
“Let’s Stand United Against Noise Pollution! To combat noise pollution, LASEPA advocates strict adherence to the recommended sound levels in establishments, including religious centres, nightclubs, bars, and events centers.”
WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that the Lagos State government sealed a popular nightclub, identified as Silk Club, located at 190, Awolowo Road in Ikoyi, over alleged noise pollution.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed it in statement on Saturday night.
The commissioner said the nightclub was sealed by the officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency who on his orders, conducted a nighttime enforcement operation in the area.
