- Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL) announces tariff increases for car park and VIP lounge services at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2)
- These tariff adjustments are due to economic conditions and are set to take effect from November 1, 2023, with specific increases in the VIP lounge access fees and a new structure for short-term parking
Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2) operator, has announced an increase in car park and lounge service tariffs, which will affect terminal users. BASL attributed this tariff revision to the current economic climate in the country and clarified that it had delayed implementing the changes in consideration of airport users.
The adjustments will specifically impact the Car Park and VIP Lounge tariffs. These new tariffs are scheduled to take effect from November 1, 2023, with access fees for the VIP walk-in lounge seeing a 33.3% increase.
Kola Bamigboye, the Head of Spaces and Premises for BASL, noted that the new Car Park tariff structure will accommodate users who spend less than 30 minutes in the Multi-storey Car Park facility, thus making it more convenient for short-term parkers.
‘Airport Toll Gates Can Generate N500m Monthly’ – Former FAAN GM
Alhaji Abubakar Bibi, a former General Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has asserted that airport toll gates, as one of the authority’s revenue sources, can generate twice the projected N250 million monthly revenue.
His comments come in response to a recent statement by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, who confirmed that the tollgate at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos generates N100 million monthly. Keyamo also set a target of N250 million monthly as part of efforts to optimize FAAN’s revenue generation, announcing that VIPs would now be required to pay toll fees.
Bibi, who previously served as Airport Manager for Ilorin International Airport, Sokoto, Gombe, and Makurdi Airports before retiring in 2018, stated in an interview with Daily Trust that the N100 million figure disclosed by Keyamo was conservative. He pointed out that as far back as 2011, the tollgate generated over N80 million monthly.
Bibi firmly believed that the tollgate alone could generate even more substantial revenue. He advocated installing another tollgate at the Oshodi end of the Lagos Airport road.
