A Kano High Court has delivered a death sentence by hanging to Sulaiman Abdullahi, a 27-year-old citizen of Niger, for the murder of 30-year-old Yahya Badamasi in 2017.

Presided over by Justice Nasiru Saminu, the court found Suleiman guilty of culpable homicide, as stated in Section 221 (b) of the Penal Code Laws of Kano State 1991, leading to the sentence of death by hanging.

The convicted individual, hailing from Matamaye village in Niger Republic, engaged in a dispute with the victim, a resident of Kofar Nassarawa Quarters in Kano, over N700 on April 9, 2017.

The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, culminating when the convict used a pair of scissors to fatally stab the deceased in the neck.

Following the incident, the injured Yahaya Badamasi was rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Subsequently, police officers from the Kwalli Division apprehended and charged Abdullahi in court.
