During the official release of the voters’ register to the 18 political parties participating in the upcoming governorship election, Mahmud Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), made this announcement at the Kogi INEC Headquarters in Lokoja.
Represented by Sani Adam (SAN), a national commissioner, Mr. Yakubu revealed that the exercise would occur in nine polling units, three in each of the state’s senatorial districts.
He also mentioned that a similar process would concurrently happen in Bayelsa and Imo states, both holding governorship elections on November 11.
Mr. Yakubu encouraged voters in the designated polling units to actively partake in this exercise, emphasizing its significance as a precursor to the actual election.
He assured readiness on the part of INEC for the governorship poll and urged politicians and voters to adhere to the rules for a peaceful, credible, and successful conduct of the election.
Mr Yakubu said the total number of registered voters in Kogi for the election is 1,932,654.

“The commission will deploy the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in all the 3,508 polling units in Kogi for the election.
“Already, we have trained technical support staff that will be deployed to all the Registration Areas (RAs) and the local Governments to provide technical support for BVAS,” he said.
Responding, the state IPAC chairman, Ukwenge Musa, commended INEC for its preparations and readiness for the governorship election.
