Black Stars Vs Mexico
  • Mexico defeated Ghana 2-0 in a soccer match with goals from “Chucky” Lozano and Uriel Antuna during the second half
  • Mexico showcased disciplined defense, controlled possession, and secured a clean sheet under coach Jimmy Lozano’s leadership

Mexico secured a 2-0 victory against Ghana in a soccer match, with second-half goals from “Chucky” Lozano and substitute Uriel Antuna. This win improved Mexico’s record to 5 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss under coach Jimmy Lozano.

Despite a shaky start that included forced passes and turnovers, Mexico gained control of the game. The first half ended with Mexico having 56% of the possession. Although neither team managed to get a shot on goal in the first half, Mexico appeared more composed and dangerous.

Mexico took the lead 12 minutes into the second half when Luis Chávez delivered a quick free kick to “Chucky” Lozano, who dribbled into the box, cut inside a defender, and scored a skillful goal.

Mexico later adopted a more defensive approach, attempting to score on the counterattack. They came close to converting breakaways on two occasions, and finally, Uriel Antuna capitalized on a scoring opportunity only 9 minutes after being subbed in.

César Huerta, a winger from Pumas, showcased his skills by making a clever move from the left flank, creating an opening and delivering an excellent pass to assist Mexico’s second goal.

Mexico secured their 2-0 lead with less than 20 minutes left in the match and maintained their defensive stance until the end, helping their captain, Guillermo Ochoa, achieve a clean sheet.

Coach Jimmy Lozano was likely pleased with Mexico’s disciplined defense. The Mexican team displayed excellent positional play, used double teams to limit Ghana’s speed effectively, and maintained spacing to shut down passing lanes into their box.

Ghana struggled under pressure and failed to produce a single shot on target, only attempting four shots during the 90-minute match. With this loss, Ghana’s record against Mexico now stands at 0 wins, 0 draws, and 4 losses.

Three standout performers for Mexico were Edson Álvarez, who controlled the space in front of the backline and prevented Ghana players from advancing; the entire Mexican backline, comprising Gerardo Arteaga, Johan Vásquez, César Montes, and Jorge Sánchez, who worked cohesively to maintain solid defense and controlled the tempo effectively; and César Huerta, who showcased his dribbling skills and provided a crucial assist on Mexico’s second goal.
