Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (GOHEALTH)
  • Gombe State’s health insurance scheme, GOHEALTH, expands coverage to include local government workers, promoting affordable healthcare access
  • This expansion aligns with Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to providing quality healthcare without financial hardship, receiving support from the Ministry

The Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (GOHEALTH) is expanding its health insurance scheme to include local government workers. Initially, the scheme covered state government workers, who contributed a small portion of their salaries to access affordable healthcare services at hospitals of their choice.

To extend this benefit to more people in the state, GOHEALTH plans to enroll local government staff in the program. In preparation for the scheme’s launch at the local government level, representatives from GOHEALTH visited the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development.

Dr. Abubakar Musa, the executive secretary of GOHEALTH, led the delegation and highlighted ongoing efforts to include local government workers in the health insurance scheme. He attributed this expansion to the determination and commitment of Governor Inuwa Yahaya to ensure that all citizens have access to quality healthcare services without financial hardship.

The Commissioner of the Ministry, Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammed Waziri, expressed his support for the initiative. He recognized the importance of including local government workers in the scheme and assured the ministry’s full support for this expansion.

Tinubu not responsible for Igboho’s freedom, say Akintoye

The leader of Yoruba Self-determination Movement Prof. Banji Akintoye has stated that President Bola Tinubu was not responsible for the freedom of Yoruba nation agitator Chief Sunday Adeyemo (aka Sunday Igboho) from Benin Republic contrary to claims by some Igbo militant leaders.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that Igboho regained freedom in Benin Republic last week after months of restriction in Benin Republic, where he was prosecuted for his agitation in Nigeria.

Akintoye, in a statement by his spokesman Gani Alagbala, explained that contrary to claims in a viral video by an unnamed Igbo militant leader that President Tinubu should release Nnamdi Kanu the same way he released Igboho, the President had no hand in Igboho’s freedom.

Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is standing trial in Abuja and being detained by the Department of State Security (DSS).
