- The APC Stakeholders Forum urges President Tinubu to implement ministerial performance evaluations every six months for better accountability
- Accountability measures are crucial to fulfilling the “Renewed Hope” agenda and addressing socio-economic and security challenges in Nigeria
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders Forum has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to implement a system for evaluating the performance of his ministers every six months. This monitoring aims to identify and potentially replace ministers who are not significantly contributing to the realization of his “Renewed Hope” agenda for Nigeria.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the National Chairman of the APC Stakeholders Forum, Abdullahi Aliyu Katsina, emphasized the importance of closely monitoring ministers to ensure they deliver on their mandates. He highlighted ministers’ vital role in fulfilling campaign promises and urged President Tinubu to hold them accountable.
Katsina stated, “We are hereby using this medium to request President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to understand that the success of his administration is largely dependent on the commitment of his ministers. Mr. President, we are asking you to introduce measures that can help identify both performing and underperforming ministers so that you can remove those underperforming from your cabinet.”
He further stressed that relieving underperforming ministers is essential for the government’s success, especially in the face of various challenges in the country.
In addition to monitoring ministerial performance, the APC Stakeholders Forum also urged President Tinubu to introduce measures to address the socio-economic and security challenges currently affecting the country. These measures are expected to be part of the strategy for achieving the goals of the “Renewed Hope” agenda.
Katsina called on all APC supporters to continue supporting leaders at all levels and expressed optimism that Nigerians would soon benefit from economic and social programs to improve their lives.
This call for close ministerial oversight reflects the growing emphasis on accountability and efficiency in government operations as Nigeria seeks to address pressing issues and meet the expectations of its citizens.
