The Ijaw Youths Network (IYN) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for extending the pipeline protection contract with Tantita Security Services Limited. The IYN coordinator, Frank Ebikabo, and Secretary, Federal Ebiaridor, expressed their appreciation in a statement, commending the president’s leadership and commitment to the collective good of Nigeria by renewing the contract for another three years.

IYN also extended their appreciation to Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), for his firmness and patriotism in addressing the ongoing fight against oil theft and economic sabotage in the country.

The group highlighted that despite campaigns against the company, the contract’s renewal demonstrates the president’s determination to combat oil theft, a problem that has negatively impacted Nigeria’s economy for years.

IYN emphasized that engaging local security outfits to address this significant economic challenge has been highly effective, as evidenced by the accomplishments of Tantita Security Services Limited.

Furthermore, the group encouraged the NNPC GCEO to disregard the efforts of a group of disgruntled militants attempting to blackmail him in the media.

Nigeria inflation climbs to 26.72%

Nigeria’s annual inflation rate rose to 26.72 per cent in September from 25.80 per cent in the previous month, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Monday.

The statistics office said the September 2023 headline inflation rate showed an increase of 0.92 per cent compared to the August 2023 headline inflation rate.

The NBS said on a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate was 5.94 per cent points higher compared to the rate recorded in September 2022, which was 20.77 per cent.

“This shows that the headline inflation rate (year-on-year basis) increased in September 2023 when compared to the same month in the preceding year (i.e., September 2022),” it said.
