Leke Abejide, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the upcoming Kogi State governorship election on November 11, has called on Dino Melaye, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Olayinka Braimoh, the candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), to consider the merit of his endorsement by Kogi West elders and support his candidacy.

Abejide made this appeal during a meeting held at his campaign headquarters in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.

It is worth noting that several Kogi West elders have endorsed Abejide as the consensus candidate for the region, with the aim of ensuring a rotation of power to the West.

Abejide stated;

This endorsement reflects the unanimous decision of our elders. I appeal to my fellow candidates and fellow Okun kinsmen like the PDP candidate, Senator Dino Melaye, and the African Alliance (AA) candidate, Olayinka Braimoh, to consider the merits of my endorsement in light of the wisdom of our elders.

He further emphasized the importance of working together to achieve a power shift to Kogi West, as the region has not produced a governor for over 32 years since the creation of Kogi State. Abejide believes that the 2023 election provides a favorable opportunity for this change.

“By God’s grace, we will all be alive to witness November 11. Then we shall determine the most popular and widely accepted candidate in the diverse landscape of Kogi State,” Abejide concluded, expressing his hope for a united effort to bring about a long-awaited change in the leadership of the state.
