In a significant step to bolster the nation’s security forces, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, has warned criminal elements in Nigeria, urging them to surrender their arms or face elimination.
Lt-Gen Lagbaja delivered this warning during the graduation ceremony of 654 battle-ready troops from ‘Exercise Restore Hope V,’ which took place at the Nigeria Army Training Center in Kachia, Kaduna State, on Friday.
The COAS affirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to providing comprehensive training for young soldiers to enhance their combat capabilities. He emphasized that the primary objective of this training is to equip the troops with the necessary skills to confront the security challenges plaguing the nation.
Lt-Gen Lagbaja further explained that this initiative is part of the Nigerian Army’s efforts to address identified operational gaps, focusing on producing highly skilled and competent personnel for various operational engagements nationwide.
The training program, known as ‘Exercise Restore Hope V,’ is specifically designed to prepare recently graduated personnel from the Depot Nigerian Army to effectively respond to the dynamic and evolving nature of threats within Nigeria’s security landscape.
The COAS charged the freshly graduated troops to demonstrate their capabilities by contributing to eliminating security challenges in their respective deployment areas across the nation. He stressed the importance of collaboration with sister security agencies to deliver effective service.
‘Exercise Restore Hope V’ represents an advanced infantry and special forces training program to further enhance young soldiers’ skills and capabilities. This initiative underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Army to ensuring the nation’s security and safeguarding the welfare of its citizens.
