- In response to the situation, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Works and Transport, Waheed Abiola, urged the contractors to maintain unwavering commitment to quality, even as they strive to meet the designated contract deadlines
The Osun State House of Assembly has voiced its dissatisfaction with the sluggish progress of several road projects throughout the state.
This concern was raised during an inspection of two specific roads: the Osogbo East By-pass road (stretching from Ona baba Ona to Ilesha Garage-Oke-baale roundabout) and the Ila-Odo road (bordering Osun and Kwara states).
In response to the situation, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Works and Transport, Waheed Abiola, urged the contractors to maintain unwavering commitment to quality, even as they strive to meet the designated contract deadlines.
“I promise to ensure the success of Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration by exerting due diligence in the performance of oversight functions.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke has done his best and we appreciate him for his quick intervention on the uncompleted projects in the State.
“I also call on the contractors not to be a clog in the wheel of the State’s progress.”
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr Basiru Bello, stated that at the rate projects are being executed in rapid succession, the State may be free from bad roads before the end of the year.
Represented by the Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Engr. Olalekan Salami, Bello enjoined all Osun residents to work hand in hand with the government by maintaining proper usage of the roads and drainages.
