The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reported the release of one female prospective corps member who was abducted in Zamfara, along with six others and their bus driver.

In an official statement signed by Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations, the NYSC confirmed that the release was successfully secured with the assistance of security agencies on October 20, 2023, around 12:30 pm.

The NYSC expressed confidence that, with the collaborative efforts of security agencies, the remaining prospective corps members still in captivity will also be freed.

The management of the NYSC emphasized the importance of prioritizing personal security for all corps members and prospective ones. They reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the security and welfare of corps members at all times.

Gunmen Storm Kwara Community, Kidnap Three

In the Ora, Ayetoro community of the Ekiti Local Government of Kwara State, gunmen have kidnapped three people.

According to reports, the event occurred on Monday when nine militants, four of whom were mask-wearing, assaulted the area with AK-47 rifles and fired intermittently.

According to reports, the armed men also broke into Oba C.O. Odeyemi’s palace, destroyed his home, and broke into his wife Olori Odeyemi’s store, taking some goods and money.

When contacted by DP, the spokesman of the state police command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident.

He said, “security operatives working with vigilantes and local hunters, have been deployed to the bush for a possible rescue of the victims.”
