The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project, currently at 80% completion, is set to be finalized by December 2024.
Mele Kyari, the CEO of NNPCL, made this announcement during an inspection tour of the project’s second segment, which included the completed Hadejia River Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) executed by the contractor, BRENTEXCCP Limited.
Kyari, represented by Olalekan Ogunleye, the Executive Vice President of Gas Power and New Energy at NNPC, praised the team for their exceptional safety record, boasting 7.2 million man-hours without any time loss or injuries.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining a focus on safety and underscored the NNPC’s new mantra: “effective delivery.” Kyari stressed the need for enhanced teamwork and collaboration to ensure the successful completion of this economically vital project for the people of Nigeria.
Kyari went on to state, “This project is aligned with our objectives and will be completed before December 31, 2024, when the President and the Group CEO of NNPC will commission it. This is our commitment to the people of Nigeria.”
Sani Abubakar, the Executive Vice Chairman of BRENTEXCCP Limited, responsible for the project’s second segment, assured that all necessary resources were in place and on schedule to meet the project’s deadline.
The NNPCL emphasized that the AKK gas pipeline and stations project is a flagship initiative that will further strengthen the integration of the northern region of Nigeria with the Niger Delta and other parts of the country.
