- Bauchi APC stakeholders urge President Tinubu and Dr. Ganduje to restructure the state chapter for improved performance
- They express concern over recent appointments and advocate for greater inclusion and leadership commitment to retrieve the “allegedly stolen governorship mandate”
Concerned stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State have issued a plea to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to undertake a restructuring of the state chapter of the party for improved performance.
The leader of these stakeholders, Abdullahi Dauda Little, and fellow stakeholders, held a press conference in Abuja on Monday to address their concerns. Little voiced their collective unease regarding the state of the party in Bauchi and implored Tinubu, Ganduje, and other key figures to extend their support to the party’s governorship candidate, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar (rtd), in his quest to “reclaim his mandate” through the appeal court in the March 18 election.
Little expressed dismay over what he perceived as unfairness in the recent appointments made by President Tinubu and called for greater inclusion of stakeholders from Bauchi who had actively contributed to Tinubu’s victory in his administration.
He stated, “We anticipate that the president and our party leaders should display a deeper commitment to the party’s growth in the state. Currently, we lack leadership that is genuinely devoted to retrieving our allegedly stolen governorship mandate. We are pursuing legal avenues through the appeals process, but we have yet to receive significant support from Abuja.”
Little went on to express concerns that the party seemed to be repeating the mistakes of the past eight years by granting significant responsibilities to individuals who do not align with the progressive vision of the APC. He highlighted the disappointments experienced by the party and Nigerians due to such appointments in the past.
As dedicated party members, the stakeholders have proposed immediate actions to rectify the situation. They have called for reorganising the party’s structure in Bauchi, even if it necessitates establishing a caretaker committee led by competent and responsible leaders.
