At least 10 mourners lost their lives in Yobe State on Tuesday evening when a tricycle was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Boko Haram terrorists.
The explosion occurred in Goni, Mittiri village, near Gumsa town in Gaidam Local Government Area of the State, resulting in multiple casualties.
These victims had gathered for the burial of 16 individuals who were killed on Monday during a Boko Haram attack on Ngouro Kiyeyya using explosive devices.
According to Zagazola Makama, a Security Analyst and Counterinsurgency Expert in Lake Lake Chad, six people died immediately and four died while being evacuated, while another four victims who sustained minor injuries were left in the village but two others who sustained serious injuries were rushed to the General Hospital in Geidam.
In another news, WithinNigeria reported that the Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 75-year-old man, Emmanuel Jaja for attempting to rape a 25-year-old woman.
The police arrested the man in Mukuvinyi Village, Hong Local Government Area.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said the man who had invited the young woman to his house, tried to maximize the advantage of her presence in his house.
“He invited his victim to his house and then suddenly advanced forcefully to have unlawful carnal knowledge of her until she resisted,” Nguroje stated.
