Timipre Sylva, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, has expressed his determination to return as governor, citing the need to address the challenges the state is currently facing. Sylva, a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and former governor of Bayelsa State from 2007 to 2012, made this statement during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

He stressed that his return as governor is driven by his desire to bring his wealth of experience to address the issues confronting the state. Sylva believes that his past experiences in both state governance and the federal government set him apart from his competitors.

Sylva expressed concern about the state’s current state, describing it as being “in a mess.” He shared his vision for stabilizing the power situation in Bayelsa and transforming the state’s water resources into opportunities for wealth creation. He criticized the current governor, Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for not having a clear agenda and outlined his own plans to create job opportunities and address the state’s challenges.

In summary, Timipre Sylva is determined to return as Bayelsa’s governor, emphasizing his experience and vision for the state’s development, particularly in areas like power stabilization and turning water resources into wealth. He aims to provide effective leadership to address the pressing issues facing Bayelsa.
