  • LASTMA General Manager attributed the cause of the accident to over-speeding which led to a brake failure
  • He urged the public, particularly commercial bus drivers, to exercise caution, restraint, and adhere to speed limits on Lagos roads during the upcoming ember months.

Early morning, a commercial bus on Outer Marina Road collided with a containerized trailer, injuring both the driver and the passengers.

The overspeeding that resulted in the brake failure caused the collision, which happened at approximately 7:02 a.m.

The people inside the stuck bus were swiftly rescued by LASTMA agents, according to Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, Director of the Agency’s Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department.

“Immediately the accident happened, our personnel who were along the axis quickly moved to the scene to rescue the occupants of the trapped commercial bus (driver and passengers) with the support of sympathetic road users.

All rescued passengers and the driver were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, Lastma Ashafa Moyosore (Zebra 1, Olowu), who led the operations, said.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, warned motorists, particularly commercial bus drivers, to exercise caution and adhere to the speed limit.
