Nigeria’s democracy depends on the Judiciary- FCT Minister
Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), emphasized that the preservation of democracy in the country relies on the crucial role fulfilled by the judiciary.
During a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja, led by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, the Minister conveyed his view that the judiciary, as an independent branch of government, is integral to the survival of democracy and should be held in equal regard with the other branches of government.
He assured that the FCT Administration will continue to provide essential support to enhance the functioning of the judiciary in the territory. Additionally, he mentioned that the 2023 supplementary budget of the FCT includes provisions for the construction of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
He said, “Just yesterday, I went to the National Assembly to defend the supplementary budget, and there we included the building of the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal.”
