Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has authorised the state’s salary workers, which will pay N25,000 to employees and N15,000 to pensioners.
According to the governor, the payment will be made for a period of six months at a cost of N2.2 billion more than the state’s salary bill.
While addressing employees in the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan, Makinde made the revelation in the presence of labour leaders, such as Comrade Kayode Martins (NLC), Comrade Bosun Olabiyi (TUC), and Comrade Olaonipekun Oluwaseun (JNC Public Sector).
Other government functionaries including, Special Adviser (Labour Matters), Comrade Adebayo Titilola-Sodo, the Executive Assistant to the governor, Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe among others also accompanied the governor during the address.
The workers had stormed the Governor’s Office as part of a decision taken during a Congress on Monday to ensure the issue is resolved once and for all.
