The Kano State Hisbah Board has taken action by relieving one of its commandants of duty due to their involvement in compromising and undermining the ongoing efforts to combat immorality and social vices within the state.
The board had recently initiated “Operation Kau da Badala,” aimed at tackling social vices in the state. Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the Commandant General of Hisbah, confirmed the dismissal of the officer to the press on Tuesday in Kano. Additionally, he disclosed that five other officers are currently under investigation for similar activities.
He clarified that the dismissed personnel had been colluding with individuals involved in unholy acts in the state.
“Upon my assumption of office, I hit the ground running by sanitising the board of bad eggs as the board is no longer the same as it used to be.
“We have dismissed a Deputy Superintendent of Hisbah and declared him wanted. Wherever he is found he should be arrested and prosecuted.”
He explained that the affected officer usually connived with the hotel operators so that their hotels would not be raided by Hisbah in the course of its operations.
“So, when we carried out the raid operation, the hoteliers where such atrocities were carried out became jittery that Hisbah had changed.
“They paid him money not to carry out operations on their hotel. There was one among the hotel operators who asked us what we wanted them to do for us to support us,” Daurawa added.
