- The chairman urged appointed secretaries to be diligent and act as the commission’s eyes and ears in their assigned zones, stating that zonal offices were extensions of the chairman’s office.
- Mr Habeeb Abdullah, on behalf of other inductees, expressed gratitude to the commission for the opportunity to serve and pledged to fulfill their duties to improve education in various zones.
Five zonal education secretaries have been appointed by Olalekan Ifede, the chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, to cover the vacancy left by the promotion of some of the secretaries to the roles of vice principal and principle of secondary schools.
During the swearing-in ceremony, which took place in the TESCOM conference room in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ifede stated that the exercise was essential for developing management skills and guaranteeing equal representation in every state zone.
The chairman stated that the zonal offices were extensions of the chairman’s office in the zones and tasked the appointed secretaries with being watchdogs and acting as the commission’s eyes and ears in the zones to which they were assigned.
“By our assessment, we find the appointees fit for the job. Their duty is to oversee all schools within their designated zones and furnish the commission with updated reports on schools monthly, among others. They are encouraged to relate closely with the old Zonal Secretaries so they can get well acquainted with the job requirements,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of other inductees, Mr Habeeb Abdullah expressed gratitude to the commission for the opportunity to serve, saying they will discharge their duties as the office demands of them to uplift education activities in zones across the state.
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Dr Abdulwaheed Olanloye, enjoined the new secretaries to comport themselves well and discharge their duties diligently for the advancement of education in the state.
