- The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to conduct an election in the three states tomorrow, November 11, 2023.
- The EFCC spokesperson stated that the monitoring team in three states will combat any attempts to manipulate electoral processes in violation of the Electoral Act.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sent agents to the states of Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa in order to keep an eye on the governorship elections that take place on Saturday.
The mobilisation, according to EFCC Spokesman Dele Oyewale, was required to prevent voter incitement through vote buying, vote selling, and other forms of election fraud, he said in a Friday interview with reporters in Abuja.
According to Oyewale, any attempt to rig the polls in violation of the Electoral Act will be addressed by the monitoring team that was dispatched to the three states to keep an eye on the proceedings.
He said: “In its drive to checkmate electoral fraud and associated financial crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has deployed its officers to Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States where governorship elections are held on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
“The Commission’s monitoring operations are to tackle any form of voter’s inducement through vote buying, vote selling and other manipulation of the electoral processes at variance with the Electoral Act.”
