Seyi Makinde Approves Appointment Of PDP Leader As Monarch In Oyo

The position of Aranyin became vacant following the demise of Oba Jimoh Oyelota.


The appointment of Prince Lasisi Olagbemileke Oladimeji Omogboye, a leader of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State, as the next Aranyin of Iranyin has been authorised by Governor Seyi Makinde of the state.

Iranyin is a town located in the Ogbomoso geopolitical zone of the state, specifically in the Surulere Local Government Area.

With the passing of Oba Jimoh Oyelota, the role of Aranyin became vacant.

The letter of the confirmation of the PDP leader as the traditional ruler of the town was signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Olusegun Olayiwola.

Olayiwola, in the letter maintained that the appointment takes effect from October 20.

The letter titled “Re: Filling of vacant stool of Aranyin of Iranyin,” states that, “I wish to refer to the above subject and inform you with pleasure that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. ’Seyi Makinde has graciously approved your appointment as the New Aranyin of Iranyin in Surulere Local Government Area with effect from 20th October, 2023.”

The letter wished the new Aranyin a successful reign that will witness peace, progress and socio-economic growth in Surulere.

It was gathered on Friday that the date for the formal installation of Omogboye has not been fixed by the family as at the time of filing this report.
