JUST-IN: Senate Wades In, Begs NLC, TUC, ASUU To Urgently End Industrial Action

The resolutions of the Red Chamber followed its consideration of a motion moved by Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, at plenary

In an act of patriotism and national interest, the Senate on Wednesday, November 15, urged the leaders of organised labour, such as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), to immediately end their current strike.

In order to find cooperative answers to the unions’ demands, the Senate also ordered Senate President Akpabio’s leadership to meet with the union representatives as soon as possible.

The Red Chamber’s resolutions came after it considered a motion made in plenary by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele with the following title: “The need for Labour to reconsider their industrial action in the interest of patriotism and for rule of law and order.”
