- Bode George urges Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Peter Obi to unite for a strong opposition against the APC
- Emphasizes the need to set aside personal ambitions, revisit party constitution, and reconfigure approach for effective collaboration
Bode George, the former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged three prominent opposition presidential candidates from the 2023 general elections – Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (New Nigeria Peoples Party), and Peter Obi (Labour Party) – to collaborate and establish a robust opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
During an appearance on ARISE TV on Wednesday, George emphasized the need for unity among opposition forces. He urged the leaders to set aside personal ambitions, revisit the party’s constitution, and reconfigure their approach to politics.
George stated, “We, as the opposition, must go back and recognize ourselves. Let us get back to the constitution of the party, everybody should bury the hatchet and tell ourselves the truth about power and reconfigure the party.”
Highlighting the shared history of the three leaders within the PDP, George proposed a reunion based on a collective understanding of the power dynamics. He pointed out that their collective strength could potentially alter the political landscape.
“If those three were all in the same party, which party would be in the villa by now? So let us now decide. And we will decide by the grace of the Almighty God. We will sit together and remove the differences and sort things out so we can be one and get back to where we were. So that we will be able to give a solid opposition,” he concluded.
APC Expresses Confidence in Expanding Influence in the Southeast
Mr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, the National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the South-East, has asserted the party’s determination to secure victories in Anambra and other states in the region, mirroring their success in the recent elections.
While congratulating Governor Hope Uzodimma on his victory in Imo State, Arodiogbu shared with newsmen in Owerri that the APC is actively working to extend its influence across all the South-East states.
Encouraging the people of the region to transcend regional sentiments and join the APC, he emphasized the importance of participating in central politics to maintain relevance.
