The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with his certificate of return in Owerri, the state capital.
During the state election on November 11, Uzodinma garnered 540,308 votes, defeating his closest rivals, Samuel Anyanwu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 71,503 votes, and Nneji Achonu of the Labour Party (LP), who obtained 64,081 votes.
The state returning officer and vice chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof. Abayomi Fashina, then declared Uzodinma the winner of the state governorship election on Sunday morning around 10 a.m. after over eight hours of collation of local government area (LGA) results.
The APC candidate swept all 27 local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Uzodinma commended INEC for conducting “the freest, fairest, and most peaceful election in the history of Imo State.”
Similarly, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), also issued a certificate of return to the Bayelsa State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Douye Diri.
Diri won the state governorship election conducted on November 11.
The Bayelsa State deputy governor and Diri’s running mate, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, also received his certificate of return.
The INEC national commissioner supervising Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa, May Agbamuche-Mbu presented the certificates of return to Diri and Ewhrudjakpo at the Prof. Mahmood Yakubu Media Centre INEC state office, Yenagoa.
