- The tribunal, led by Theodora Uloho, dismissed the petition as incompetent and not properly filed.
- Ardo went further to appeal against the tribunal’s judgment.
The Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) candidate for governor, Dr. Umar Ardo, filed an appeal against the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who won the election in Adamawa State. The Court of Appeal in Abuja denied the plea.
The Adamawa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal’s ruling, which had previously rejected Ardo’s petition contesting Fintiri’s election, was affirmed by Justice Ugochukwu Ogaku’s ruling.
There is no validity to this appeal. “The court held that the Tribunal’s decision to dismiss the Petition is hereby affirmed.”
Ardo had claimed in the petition that there were numerous anomalies and Electoral Act violations in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
Nevertheless, the Court of Appeal and the tribunal both determined that these accusations lacked merit.
