Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State declared that Governor-elect Alhaji Usman Ododo “will carry his cross” while leading the Confluence State. Governor Bello made this statement after the presentation of certificates of return to re-elected Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and Governor-elect Ododo by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Governor Bello assured that he would not interfere in the administration of Ododo. He emphasized that it would be Ododo’s administration, with the new governor shouldering the responsibility and making decisions for the state.

“In this administration, I have nobody dictating for me; rather, we follow the law, and the rules, and the people are satisfied with me. This is going to be Usman Ododo’s administration, good or bad, which I pray is going to be good. He will carry his cross, and I know he will do well,” Governor Bello stated.

Governor Bello called on the citizens of Kogi State to collaborate with the incoming government to ensure they benefit from the Renewed Hope Agenda of the federal government.

Governor-elect Ododo expressed gratitude for the support received during the campaign and emphasized that his mandate was for the people. He pledged to consult with the people, solve problems, and serve the state effectively.

Furthermore, Governor Uzodinma highlighted the success of the APC in the November 11 elections in Imo and Kogi states, considering it a reflection of the party’s growth and popularity among Nigerians. He presented the certificates of return to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging the President’s leadership and guidance.

The visit to President Tinubu was described as a tradition to honor him after off-cycle elections and to express appreciation for his support and wisdom that contributed to the party’s success. Uzodinma concluded that the victory in the polls demonstrated the continued satisfaction of Nigerians with the APC.
