President Bola Tinubu has advised governors affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritize the people’s interests and work diligently to improve their respective states. During a meeting in Abuja on Friday, the president shared this counsel with Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, and Governor-Elect Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State.
Expressing contentment with the outcomes of recent elections, which he described as free, fair, and peaceful, President Tinubu commended the governors for their hard work and emphasized that the real challenge lies in delivering good governance.
“You worked hard for this victory. I am very proud of you, but the real challenge has only started, and it will stare you in the face. That is the challenge of good governance. Make sure that everyone is carried along. You are now the servants of the people,” said President Tinubu.
He highlighted the importance of focusing on the people’s concerns and ensuring their inclusion in governance. Tinubu stressed that by making the people the focal point of their plans and actions, governors can make governance easier and enhance the value of their states, providing new opportunities for the masses to grow and enjoy an improved standard of living.
Addressing the governors elected on the APC platform, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of delivering on promises to gain the respect of voters. He encouraged them to uphold the principles and excellence symbolized by the eagle on the country’s coat of arms.
National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who accompanied the governors to the meeting, acknowledged the integrity displayed by the party’s candidates during the elections, following the president’s directive for a free, fair, and peaceful process. He also noted the party’s graceful concession of victory in Bayelsa State.
