The Lagos State Police Command apprehended Benjamin Ezeukwe for orchestrating a fraudulent sales promotion scheme that falsely lowered the price of Dangote cement, resulting in financial losses for Nigerians.
This information was revealed in a statement issued by Benjamin Hundeyin, the state’s Public Relations Officer, on Sunday.
Numerous customers fell victim to the scam, losing millions of Naira. Further investigations have unveiled multiple similar scams linked to the suspect.
Following extensive weeks-long investigations conducted by officers from the Region A Command of the State Command, Benjamin was arrested on October 19, 2023, in the Rumuolumeni region of Obio Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State.
The statement partly reads “The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Benjamin Ezeukwe aged 28 for masterminding and fleecing hundreds of innocent Nigerians in an elaborate cement-price-slash scam.
“Claiming a massive price slash. Numerous unsuspecting customers fell prey to the scam, losing millions of Naira to the suspect. An investigation has so far revealed that the suspect had perpetrated several other similar scams. The suspect has since been arraigned.
“Benjamin was arrested on October 19, 2023, in the Rumuolumeni area of Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State following weeks of intensive investigation by officers of Area A Command of the State Command.
Earlier in October the Management of Dangote Cement Plc has denied reports, on some online platforms that it has embarked on sales promotion and has further adjusted its prices.
