Defence Chief Encourages Troops in Niger, Emphasizes Perseverance

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has urged troops of Operation Mugun Bugu II in Niger State to persevere in the ongoing fight against banditry and insurgency. The encouragement was given during a two-week exercise of Operation Mugun Bugu II 2023 at the Nigerian Army Main Training Area (NAMTA) in Kontogora, Niger State.

Represented by Major General Jal Jimoh, Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development, General Musa expressed satisfaction with the troops’ performance and encouraged them to consistently demonstrate a high level of professional conduct in the discharge of their national duties.

He highlighted that Operation Mugun Bugu aims to adequately prepare troops for effective joint operations in line with his leadership philosophy, fostering a professional armed forces of Nigeria that is people-centric, collaborative, and capable of meeting constitutional responsibilities.

General Musa reminded the troops of the nation’s numerous security challenges, requiring the deployment of forces across the country. He urged them to be prepared to put into practice what they have learned in the defence of Nigeria.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, represented by Major General SG Mohammed, Chief of Training (Army), also emphasized the commitment of the Nigerian Army to dynamic and realistic training to achieve the readiness required to tackle contemporary security challenges facing the country.
