- Recall that passengers expressed worry when United Airlines aeroplane landed in Asaba International Airport on Sunday rather than the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said it has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the diversion of United Nigeria Airline’s flight NUA 0506 to Asaba and the confusion it has created in the public domain.
NCAA Director General, Capt Musa Nuhu, disclosed this on Monday in a statement posted on the Agency’s official X handle.
The Agency confirmed that preliminary action has been taken against United Nigeria Airlines.
” However, preliminary steps have been taken pending conclusions of the ongoing investigation.
“The Authority wishes to reassure the travelling public that it will leave no stone unturned as it has always done to ensure the aviation industry’s continued safety,” he said.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that passengers expressed worry when a United Airlines aeroplane landed in Asaba International Airport on Sunday rather than the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA).
Consequently, the wet lease aircraft under United Nigeria Airlines were reportedly suspended.
Meanwhile, Mr Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, Head of Corporate Communications of United Nigeria Airlines, claimed the diversion was due to poor destination weather.
” At all material times, the aircraft pilots were aware of the temporary diversion and were properly briefed.
” However, the cabin crew made a wrong announcement upon landing in Asaba, creating confusion among the passengers.
” Meanwhile, the aircraft had landed safely in Abuja following improvement on destination,” he said.
